Hey everyone! I'm Bernard Smith, and I'm excited to be leading a small group once again! I graduated from Hendrix College back in 2017 with a BA in Applied Mathematics and a minor in Secondary Education. During my time at Hendrix, I was heavily involved with CCM, especially leading small groups at the Hendrix campus. After graduating, I moved to Blytheville and taught mathematics and computer science for five years at Blytheville High School. During this time, I earned my M. Ed. in Educational Equity and I volunteered at my local parish both as a youth minister and music minister. I have since stepped away from the high school classroom, and I'm back in Conway, now in my second year pursuing an MA in Mathematics Education.
Throughout my entire life, ministry has been a significant defining factor for me. I have always had a heart for helping others, and this has drawn me not only to a career in education but also to ministry within the Church. Even after graduating, I have stayed connected with several friends I've met through CCM, and I have continued to see this organization grow as an alumnus. After coming back to Conway, I knew I wanted to do all I could to help support other students and alumni to continue growing in our faith.
I will be leading a small group on Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm. While it is generally geared towards alumni and graduate students, all are welcome to join! We will dive into various topics of the Bible, including angels, the apostles, and contemporary issues. I look forward to seeing you all this year!
